The NSHepLink research team came together in 2001 with the goal of building capacity for Hepatitis C research in Nova Scotia, capitalising on a wealth of expertise and on our unique ability to access administrative, public health, and clinical data.

Our team includes experts from a variety of disciplines and institutions, including:

Dalhousie University
Epidemiologists, Health Economist, Pharmacist, Physician, Administrative Data Managers, Information Technology Specialists

Nova Scotia Department of Health
Medical Officer of Health, Provincial Epidemiologist

Queen Elizabeth II Liver Clinic
Hepatologist, Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Hepatitis Outreach Society
Patient Advocate

The NSHepLink is funded entirely by the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF). Our first priority has been to obtain, clean, and link data from three sources - administrative data on health service use housed at the Population Health Research Unit at Dalhousie University; public health data from the Nova Scotia Department of Health; and clinical data maintained by the Queen Elizabeth II Liver Clinic. Once this process is complete, we plan to examine the use of health services by Nova Scotians diagnosed with Hepatitis C compared to those who screened negative for Hepatitis C, and to a random sample of the general population.
